Pretty Rad.

Hey everyone, I know its been a while since I posted. Camping season is among us and I haven't been out on my cruiser for a while, with the cool weather my canoe comes out and I head into the bush.

This summer I also got my Touring bike into gear and on the road. It was a new experience for me. When I got this is bike I wanted to set it up with classic styling, Canvas and leather bags, Brooks seat (also the most comfortable), shellacked cloth grips (looks like leather). When it came time to pick the bags, I had heard of a company called Acorn Bags, a husband and wife team based in the states. There bags are amazing, well thought out and super durable/beautiful. So when I was able to get a set (took some fancy footwork as they don't ship to Canada yet), I took some pictures to to have for my "owned bike" picture collection. I also sent a couple to them and Bam it ended up on there home page. Pretty Rad!!

1st Annual Island Ride = Great time

The Island ride was great, beautiful weather, plenty of heads turned and one great question from a pedestrian. " what is that?" asked this women. " It has two wheels, it must be a bike" replies Larry, and the woman's response " what is the advantage of that?". Great to be able to talk to some new people and share some laughs. It was great, Can't wait till the next ride.

Handmade Leather Grips

On my cruiser I had cork grips, which I loved very dear. Then one day while picking up something in a store, the wind blew my bike over. This smashed my grips, totaling them into little cork bits. So rather than get new cork grips and possibly have this happen again, I desided to construct leather ones. I started with some heavy tooling leather I have kicking around, measured the bar circumference and made it a touch smaller. I cut and stitched it up and soaked the grip then slipped it over a old set of bars I have to dry and stretch/tighten. Then the next day used some white glue as lube and slipped them on my bike. I plan to leave it to dry for a day then put some Brooks Proofide on, to condition them. Should look nice.

Core77: Dutch Master

Brooklyn-based Core77 introduced the Dutch Master bicycle, which is a wicked cruiser that has a look like a vintage BMX. The bike is based off of a Worksman cruiser frame and features some of the highest quality components that can be found on any consumer-grade bike. The bikes are hand-built at Brooklyn’s Bushwick Bike Shop and only a limited run of 25 will be made.

You could have ordered on for $1560, but they are sold out. Just thought you might want to take a look.

Skulls and bikes.

Bike and Skulls have always gone hand and hand. I wonder how bad ass these guys were. How common was it to get you picture taken with a skeleton wearing a top hat?
